PM Expands National Dialysis Programme to 751 Districts

The Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP), part of the National Health Mission, now operates in 751 districts across all 36 states and UTs, offering free haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services to economically vulnerable ESRD patients. As of June 2025, over 1,700 centres are functional, connected through a realtime IT portal for One Nation—One Dialysis portability, and integrated with ABHA health IDs for seamless patient data sharing.

This scaling effort significantly enhances rural access to critical renal care, reducing reliance on private facilities. The digital infrastructure streamlines operations, boosting efficiency in appointment tracking and capacity management. For many patients, this expanded coverage means timely treatment without catastrophic out-of-pocket costs.

To sustain impact, authorities plan to deepen PPP collaborations and establish centres at sub-district and CHC levels. Training health workers and awareness campaigns are underway to encourage early detection of kidney disease, fostering preventive care in high-risk regions
