In collaboration with ICMR, AIIMS Nagpur has unveiled TeleESSI—a mobile app offering animated, locallanguage videos that train school staff and parents to recognise and manage seizures in children with epilepsy. Aimed at rural and resource-constrained schools, the app seeks to reduce stigma and ensure safer environments in classrooms across India.
Each school is encouraged to designate at least one trained person to administer seizure first aid. The app’s userfriendly, visual approach equips educators and families to act confidently during emergencies, potentially saving lives and reducing absenteeism.
Functional integration with State Education Departments and District Health units aims to expand coverage rapidly.
